XTM Terminology

XTM Terminology is an enterprise level terminology management system written in Java.

This module is a database for terms, which you can call on to ensure you use approved terms consistently in your text. You can enter the definition, an image, the status, multiple translations and other essential information, while keeping a record of the change history of each term.

XTM Terminology runs as a webservice and enables you to:

  • Import terminology from or export it to CSV, TBX (Term Base) or MTF (Multiterm format) files.
  • Add or edit terms manually.
  • View or delete each term when required.
  • Enter a definition and optional remarks for each term.
  • Define the domain and context for each term.
  • Assign a picture to each term.
  • Assign an abbreviation to each term.
  • Set a reference for each term to point to the broader description or its source.
  • Set the status of each term as valid, not approved or rejected.
  • Enter translations in multiple languages for each term. The translations can be added during import from CSV TBX or MTF files or manually afterwards.
  • Enter multiple translations in each language for each term. For example the English term "car" can have two valid equivalents in Polish: "samochód" and "auto".
  • Search easily for terms by language, status or domain.
  • Add new terms while translating within XTM Workbench.
  • View existing terms during translation. The XTM editor highlights existing terms.
  • View suggested translations for the term. Placing the cursor on the highlighted term produces a list of suggested translations.
